I brand spanking new to MTH engines and beginning to do research on which DCS system would be compatible with my Layout. I currently run Fastrack with 3 Lionchief engines and my power supply is a GW180. My son loves using his iPad to control the Lionchiefs and was wondering if MTH wifi engines would work on my layout. I seen were they have an app similar to what Lionel has, just need some more information to put the missing pieces together. Always loved this community because of everyone is really helpful.

Rather than write a long explanation, go to this link for MTH's last catalog and read page 6 through 11.... your 180 power bricks are a fine power source and will work with DCS just fine.
If you have any questions, call our shop and we would be happy to answer them. 765.292.2022
The AGHR layout is powered by Lionel 180-watt bricks. DCS and Legacy work fine. The Lionel power supplies provide stable, consistent power. However, we have installed separate PSX breakers as they trip quickly, give an audio warning and self-reset.
The brick is fine, don't know about the GW180 controller as it produces a chopped waveform. It's probably OK, but then you can just power the track directly with the brick since you don't need variable power for DCS.
The GW180 controller and brick works just fine with MTH engines and DCS. I've been using that combination for over 14 years. I use the variable power with the controller to run conventional engines and apply full power for MTH and DCS or Lionel and TMCC.
