Is Lionel HQ worth a visit?

I know several of our club members have gone during business hours to have repairs done while-u-wait.  They've been impressed by the repair shop and the service.

So we made a quick stop after finding that Spencer Shops were taken over by Thomas.

Small shop (not a whole lot of scale stuff) but fun for the kids and wife who played at the LionChief Layout.

I did end up getting some decorative items as we're approaching train season.��

Next stop tomorrow, Spencer Shops.

If you have the time after you go to Spencer shops, drop by The little choo choo model train shop.  It is just across the street fro Spencer shops.

Company stores are always fun to visit, as items are often merchandised very well.  I recall someone posted pictures (about a year ago?) that conveyed a similar description of products at the store.  With items typically sold at MSRP in the company store, there's only so  many products that'll sell that way.  The high end, scale items don't fit well in that category.

 

Lionel novelty items, seasonal items, and Lionel/NASCAR items would be natural good-sellers at the company store.

It's an OK little store. But for such an Icon of our hobby and even country I'd expect more......spoiled by images  of the NYC showroom.....I know times are different......but really wish it was 'grander'.  Reminds me of thousands of other 'mall stops' right now. 

 

To be honest the LEGO store in the mall nearby is more fun. 

Got a lot of nice pictures from Spencer -6900, 2601 and others. Kids loved Thomas and Percy and the First Responders NS unit was there as well.

I'll post some pictures once I get them off of my camera at home.

I really like the shot of 6133 from atop the pedestrian bridge, makes it look like a model. I'd love to see Lionel do more of the streamline Southern engines.

Sounds like the HQ is not like 10 E.26th St, which had a great layout and was just a half-block from the AC Gilbert Hall of Science.

Different world... different times... different folks running the show.
