Having problems with reed switch for ERR sound commander in a lionel T-1 steamer item# 6-18006. Intermittent chuffing especially on turns. My minimum radius curves are 054. Reed switch is mounted on tender truck magnet on wheel . I' am getting tired of trial an error adjustments. What I would like to is use a cherry switch or something more reliable. Installation would be best in tender, doesn't matter about be in sink with drivers. Any and all ideas would be much welcomed.

Well, they don't install in the tender, but I'll soon have these available through Henning's Trains.
Will it work with original a.c. motor ? I did install your super chuffed board , works great, nice design. I thought about going to a dc motor but had no idea what to use.
Well, the AC motor doesn't have a flywheel, so that's a problem. :-)
As for DC motors, Frank Timko has DC motor adapters for many locomotives, and I have two of these exact models with the Timko motors, so I know he has them for that particular locomotive. That also allowed me to upgrade to cruise control, makes a much nicer running rig. I had one of these at York as my Super-Chuffer demo in the Henning's Trains booth in the Orange hall.
Did you by any chance take photos of your installation ? A picture would be worth a thousand words. Thanks for the replies . Sent an email to Frank, I think I will swap to a dc motor.
I don't have any pictures, but it's just a different motor mount and the DC motor replacing the AC motor. A bonus is the DC motor fits totally inside the cab, so I used JB-Weld to cover the brush holder holes and painted them black.
