I just purchased this new PS3 30-20577-1 “yellow book” subway set.  It comes loaded with ‘Red Line’ transit stop sounds, but I was wondering about the availability of ‘Blue Line’ to O’Hare announcements.

When I was a new hire first officer at the airline, I vividly remember riding these cars in to work from the pilot crashpad ghettos around Rosemont/Cumberland/Harlem, at ‘oh my god’ early in the morning.  While I don’t miss occasionally having to sleep in a tiny two bedroom apartment with 8 bunk beds, I do miss riding the train daily.

I thought the yellow book one had the brown line stops. That's what the preview sound plays on the MTH website.

PS3 CTA Subways

  • Pink CTA 3200 - Pink Line
  • Blue Logo 3200 CTA - Red Line
  • Silver CTA 3200 - Purple Line
  • Bicentennial CTA 6000 - Englewood A train line
  • Green and White CTA 6000 - Ravenswood line

No blue line that I know for PS3.

  • My PS2 Yellowbook CTA is the Orange Line to Midway
  • My White Sox CTA is Red to 95th
  • My Bears CTA is the Brown line

I didn’t realize that was possible, Matt.  I’ve been reading Barry’s DCS manual when able, and have read the manual online that comes with the set (haven’t been home in weeks to open them up) and I interpreted that you can’t make custom recordings on subways.  The DCS companion states you can’t have custom names because “the DCS board memory where a custom name would reside is used instead for subway/trolley transit station announcements.”

I’m a complete DCS newbie, did I just read this caveat incorrectly?

Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

Wrong term, you can't put a custom name for a subway. Like the name that appears on the remote or app. As far as recording goes, the auto/trolley mode basically is a recording but for one set.
