Hi all, I currently power my home layout with a Z4000 and two power bricks (Z1000 and Lionel power house), run through 4 channels on the TIU. I have it all running through a power strip and a Christmas light remote, so I can turn the power on without climbing under the table. This is great, except I have to reset (bring down and back up) the Z4000’s handles each time I cycle the power, or else the red overload light stays on. Is there any way to disable this behavior so that I can leave the handles where they are and only use the Christmas light remote to turn on and off the track power?

Thanks in advance,

Phoebesnow

No, there is not. However, you can operate the Z4000 remotely using a Z4000 Remote Commander receiver and handheld, or the receiver and a DCS Remote.

DCS Book CoverEverything that you need to know about DCS is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!"

Interesting Barry. I knew about the remote commander, but can you shed more light on control via the DCS remote please?

Thanks, Rod

Rod,

can you shed more light on control via the DCS remote please?

You would use DCS to create Z4K Tracks and use the remote's TR screen to raise and lower voltage on the transformer. For details, refer to pages 97-101 of The DCS Companion 3rd Edition.
