Recently, I was able to pick-up the MTH Premier BN red, white, blue engine and full-sized matching caboose.  MTH remade this engine in 2014, updated to PS3.  The caboose was made 2003-04.

ARE THERE ANY??????  Red, White and Blue rolling stock that "match" a "spirit of 76" set????????  I have the HO scale train.

I'm wondering if there is SCALE FULL-SIZED O stuff by any manufacturer that is made in this red, white and blue theme??????????????

Thank you.

John,

Not sure what engine you are talking about.  There are three BN red-white-blue engines that I know of, two with "Spirit of '76": a U30C and a SD40-2.  Both are excellent engines for pulling a bicentennial freight train.

There are several bicentennial themed freight cars available from all the manufacturers.  Many of the cars are scale but there a lot that are less than scale sized or "traditional" sized.  Just keep an eye out for them being sold by our forum sponsors, at shows or on eBay.  Here are just a few of mine.

An interesting note about the two BN engines MTH decided to model (U30C and SD40-2).  These two engines, MUed, were the only diesels to pull the American Freedom Train without one of the AFT steamers.  This was because 4449 needed to be shopped and the other two steamers were not available.  Since the next route segment for the AFT was on BN's tracks, these diesels got chosen.

John, NP rostered some "Share In Freedom" red, white & blue boxcars to promote savings bonds. Weaver offered this and there is one on eBay right now. Good luck!

THX.  Located--but I think these are under-sized.  I'm looking for FULL-SCALE 1/48.

No, John, those are 40 foot SCALE Weaver boxcars. I have seen them before. There are three of them on eBay, one of which is a 2-rail item.  (Actually scale height and width but 20% shorter than the real cars which were 50 feet in length.)

Thank you to all!  I purchased two of the Northern Pacific (fits my theme) patriotic cars from Ebay.  I will be keeping an eye out for the "fantasy" not specific red, white and blue cars!  I really like the MTH tank car.  I can locate a bunch of the traditional, under-sized stuff, but the engine and caboose are FULL-SIZED O.  I don't like mixing the sizes.  It appears awkward to me.

I run consists that appear to be comparable in scale to one another.  Thanks again!  I especially liked all of the photos!

Yes, John, this can only be ordered by lots members*. Cost of boxcar is $86. shipped plus $41 L.O.T.S. membership fee for new members. Thus $127.00 total is you're not a L.O.T.S. member.

* if you know a L.O.T.S. member, they could order one for you as there is no limit on how many a member can purchase plus the more boxcars purchased the the shipping cost per car is significantly less.

Awesome, but I'm not paying that.  No matter how they paint it, it is a plastic car.   I will luck out and get this years from now.  :-)

I agree John. Too costly. I do wonder however how many L.O.T. members are dealers who will be selling these at Spring 2017 York and for how much.

Looks like I am joining LOTS. I will get four maybe sell them down the road for 100.00 each to recover the cost to join the club or maybe I will just keep them.

LOVE the CAR!!!

Way to do it John. Buy 4, sell 3 for $100 apiece and it'll pay for your L.O.T. dues and make you $13 profit too!
