So I'm a little baffled at the moment. I have one PS2 engine that will not run on my layout at the moment. Every time I start it up and begin to increase the speed, it shuts down and says "Check Track/Engine Not on Track." Well, I've done that. Every other locomotive of mine- all my other Premier PS2 and PS3 engines and my Lionel TMCC engines are running fine on this particular track. It's my outer mainline. So I'm not sure what's up with this particular engine. Any advice?

How are you running it? Command or Conventional? Are the roller screws tight, are the wheels and pick ups clean. Is the tether in completely if steam. G
I run completely command. As far as I can tell the roller screws are tight. I'll clean the wheels and pick ups. Yes, the tether is in completely (it's steam). Thanks so much!
What model # is this. When you say shutdown, sounds go away too? Does it play the full shutdown sounds or go silent? This can be a lot of different issues so unless you skilled in opening and testing various items this may be best checked by a tech.
If it is not something obvious in the engne like a pinched wire, bad solder joint at the PCB of the engine, bad motor, bad tether, it is possibly a board issue.
When you have the engine on the track and started, do a DCS Signal strength test and see what you get for this engine. G
The model number is 20-3166-1. It plays the full shutdown sounds. It will start up just fine, do all the regular start up sounds. However, as soon as you increase the speed on the DCS remote, it goes into shut down mode. Will play all the shut down sounds and then goes off.
G - today, she starts up and just sits there idling even when I adjust the speed up/down. If I hit the direction button, the rear tender light comes on like it should, be she won't move in reverse either. I'm newer to the MTH/DCS engines/system, so this really has me baffled.
Time for a tech to look at it. Could be bad motor, bad wire or solder joint, fault on the boards. G
Had issues running
Ran it conventional
Now it works in DCS like a champ
Ghost in the machine...
Scare it with running alone
Who knows
This MTH stuff is a weird animal sometimes
