I used to order from them exclusively, then Jeff got harder and harder to reach and I eventually just switched to Public Delivery Track. Never even got calls about the preorders I placed at JD's.
Closed up a long time ago.
Weird the website phone and email still works
Yea, same with me. I tried to get atlas orders from him, contacting him was like pulling teeth. Dont know why...

Yes, that's been true, for some reason. But, as Boilermaker says, he's been closed a long time, at least a couple years now. It was just a hobby/side business for him. I think he said that he took another, more time-consuming job, plus had a growing family, and didn't have time for the train business any more.
I just filed a complaint with yahoo over this, as I ordered something before reading this thread. I now have to report my credit card as stolen and get a new one. Thanks a lot.
I suggest you do the same here: https://help.smallbusiness.yahoo.net/s/report-abuse
Talked with him about 7 or 8 years ago at the Chicago March Meet and he said his business was essentially a minimum wage job, with long hours. Left for more lucre, presume.
Back in 2015, there was a thread explaining that Jeff Dobslaw was leaving (or had already left) the model train business and that his Atlas pre-orders were being taken over by another dealer: https://ogrforum.com/topic/jd-trains
That does not explain why the website is still up and still appears to show a substantial inventory. Unless the remaining inventory is being sold off, in which case you’d expect there to be some notice to that effect, actually taking payments through the website is either the fault of the merchant or the online payment administrator. I can’t see that the website has been updated since sometime before 2015.
I dealt with Jeff Dobslaw with no issues for a few years and I think I even went to his store in the St. Louis area once.
Jeff was a fantastic dealer but should've given notice to his customers. I had several items preordered that I never got as a result and the website should be gone.
