Well, I jumped into the pond, just knocking the new off my Creality K1C.  First impressions are WOW!  This sucker is fast, and so far the prints are really top quality!  The Benchy test print looks really good, so I printed the first practical project, the side mounted filament spool holder so I can move the filament spool from the back.

Now it's printing the HEPA filter enclosure for the case fan for the stinkier filaments when I get to printing them.

You can buy PCB with copper on them and use a laser head on your printer erase the parts you don't need and create the traces.

That sure sounds like reinventing the wheel.  As cheap as it is to get PCB's made, I don't see where I'd even consider trying to hack up a 3D printer for this task.  I'd rather use it to do what it's designed for.

Never heard of a 3D pen.

...

Never heard of a friction welder either.

3D pen uses filament just like the printer, has a "hotend" tip and a feed control.  You control the speed that melted filament comes out.  The hot filament will melt/weld to similar plastic.    Usually used for artwork.   They are relatively cheap.

Frictiion/stir/Inertia  welding, spin one object against another to make heat until melted/welded.
