Just A Heads UP!! MTH Empire State Express

These are very easy to paint which us what I would do.  Simple fix for another error. 

That's probably what I'll end up doing Jeff. Just wanted to forewarn everyone.

I purchased them to go along with my premier ESE Hudson.

What's prototypical for these?  Seems I remember several stainless NYC sets years ago that all had black trucks...

Sam, when these were built they did have silver trucks. Today the remaining cars have black trucks but I would assume as long as a steam engine was pulling them the trucks were silver. Repainting trucks is not the hardest job but not trivial either if you want to keep the wheels and axles black.

Does this set have LED lighting and an illuminated number board at the rear end with "Empire State Express" on it.

I was not suprised when mine showed up with black trucks. Anyway i got some silver paint and dry brushed them this way the wheels stay clean and you can lightly do the springs. Another plus is you can build up the amount of silver on the trucks . I prefer a worn look to bright and shiney. This was very easy and dont overlook the brake shoes and their hangers. The peacefull time spent doing what Mike should have done in the first place will be good therapy ! conrail john
