i bought the k line 4-6-2 o scale Alton limited a few weeks back  and it ran great. However, I cannot get it to smoke like it should. I’ve taken it apart and looked to see isn’t he piston was just seized but I found that it also works great. The unit gets warm when running but when I put fluid in it, it just pushes it back out the top. Any advice or quick fix I can do?

Viewer doesn't work for me. I only see thumbnails either way.

#1 it sounds like maybe you are drowning it in fluid. The nature of that build, I'd think saturated packing is "full" anyhow. Tip over to drain, and wait out enough evaporation for it to get hot again (days, weeks, depends on fluid)

#2 it may have toasty packing.

#3 it's resistor or connections might be toasty.

Check the resistance value with an ohm meter.... consider a rebuild, new resistor value, maybe super chuffer, etc.

Another option may be introducing a voltage drop to the rest of the loco/board/motor so a higher voltage is seen at the smoke unit while at a slower speed.
