Hello guys,

I am in the process of installing this unit on my layout. Does anyone have any pictures of this unit on your layout. I am especially interested in how you blended in the gray rocks of this unit into your layout. I am seriously thinking of repainting this unit a different color other than gray. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here is a picture of this unit ready to set in place.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Roger. It actually looks pretty good 'as-is' and when you surround it with water it will look great.

Perhaps you could weather the rock a bit with some acrylic paints and after you install the flanking scenery - rock or greenery, it will be easy to paint the whole area to match as you blend them.

Keep us posted.

Roger,

Well...I'm not sure you'd really want to do what I did...but I ended up kitbashing the unit (if I'm thinking of the same one the guy moves back and forth like he's yanking on the fishing rod) and removed the motion portion of it and figure and added it to an abutment next to the section of curved wood trestle I had already built controlled by an off/on switch....just food for thought. You could always blend the base of that piece into your layout with some "sculptamold"....maybe even hack a portion of the front of that thing and continue the river and riverbed...doesn't look right if river just ends at a dead end....you know what I mean?

PS: I was also thinking you'd probably want that piece to sit a little below the finished level of you layout...not very realistic having a river higher than the surrounding grade around it (not trying to bust chops here) you could always add to the top of the abutments to achieve the height you needed to support the track

Good luck
