K-Line Pennsy 6464

Need information about K-Line K641 boxcars.  I have found very little to no information regarding the following 2 sets of boxcars that were available from K-Line/Lionel in 2005.  The sets are known or listed as:

K641-1093A

K641-1094A

From what I have found is that They were 4 boxcar sets.  Were the boxcars individually boxed & in a master carton?

Any & all info would be helpful.

Good morning Bill.  Thanks for the update.  I am a Lionel Fan.  I purchased a 2005 catalog from Ebay this week & have not received it yet.  I take it that the catalog shows a 6 car set?  Do You own the sets?  I so, is there a chance that You could photo those sets so I can acquire Them?  Are the cars packed in individual boxes & in a master box?

I do not own them.  The catalog picture shows them sitting on the track.  Do not think I am allowed to post that picture on this site.

I have the sets 641-1093A & 1094A. Each set came in a shipping type brown carboard box with some typical K Line identification lettering on the sides. Then each car is in a typical K Line box (for that particular year). Hope that helps. I am an old 6464 collector-but have always enjoyed/collected the K Line 641 series box cars-especially when the Lionel 6464 type cars were listing closer to $100 than they were to the high $20s to mid $30s catalog prices of Kline 641s. Enjoy-turtle7

Turtle,  WOW.  I am dumb struck.  You are the only one so far that has the complete sets.  From what I see, I will have to buy Then individually to get a set.  Most of the ones I am looking at do not even have the marked boxes that They came in.  Prices are all over the board.  They are just beautiful, detail is great, great color.  Being a die hard Lionel owner, These being an offspring of the Lionel makes Me what Them to fill empty shelf space.  So far I own 2 of the 8 available.  I will find the rest.

Lenny   I'm sure that there are at least a few K-Line expets on this Forum- I am not and need to get to my books to referesh my memory. But some where around 1987-88 K Line improved on the molded-in plastic doors boxcar ( which were originally KMT molds, I think) and started making a boxcar which mimicked the Lionel 6464s-with metal door guides/ seperate brake wheel/ etc-I think they called the mold the 6400 series and the firsr car was a Seasons Greetings car # 6401. They did many, many cars including multiple color/size feather WP cars and multiple color Timken cars-with many individual variations for those so interested. They were easily and usually cheaply available and fun to collect. I did. Then in 1995 ( I think) they improved the cars with a new series they called the 640 series-these cars usualy had the 641-prefix and had seperately applied ladders in addition to the metal door guides and brake wheels. The first one was a Planters Peanut car-and again, K Line did lots of these cars throughout the late 90s and early 2000s-even under the Lionel shadow untill they closed up shop. All these cars were great, IMHO-and much less expensive than the Lionel modern 6464 types. Let's see who can add to/ correct what I have said.  Enjoy, turtle7

Stu, Thanks.  I purchased the K641-1899 Pennsy boxcar not knowing what it was, now I am intrigued with this series of K-Line copy's of Lionel 6464's.  They show to be really nice, clean remakes.  Do You know if They came is a Master carton?

Lenny

Actually, the 640 series of K-Line boxcar types that came on line in 1995-96 were not copies of Lionel's 6464 cars.  The Kusan mold which was retooled into the 6400 series boxcar was ending its useful days and the 640 series, (641 being the boxcar) was the replacement developed by K-Line.  It and its sister cars (642 wood side reefer), (643 Stock car), (644 Double door boxcar) & (645 steel sided reefer) were traditional sized cars and the detailing was very nice.  I would call them similar to the 6464 series cars but not knock offs.

Good Evening to Everyone.  It is great to hear that so many of You have more information than the WEB.  I really thought that My post would die the first day.  I have learned very much & I have printed this info for later reference.  Thanks to All.
