My K-line K-3380-1361 PRR K-4 W/TMCC/Cruise Control takes a long time to get up to any reasonable speed. I have to turn the dial on my Cab1 many, many times to get any speed at all. I have tried resetting the engine and changing the speed steps to 32 but nothing seems to work. This is something that just started happening. Appreciate any help to get it back to operating "normally".

I've repaired a few of these in the past, the issue on the few I fixed was the magnet on the flywheel came loose and was hitting/ rubbing on the speed sensor.
If this is the case you can try gluing the magnet ring back on to the flywheel and see if it operates properly. If not then you will most likely have to purchase a Cruise M from Electric Railroad and bypass the original cruise
Thanks, Alex
Are you sure the momentum isn't set to H on the remote? Try setting it to L.
Or set to a lower speed step. Sounds like your on 256. G
The K-Line cruise doesn't have a magnet wheel, it has a toothed wheel like the Legacy Odyssey II control. I'm with George here, I like the 128 speed steps best. Here's a set of reset instructions for the K-Line cruise that may help beat it into submission.

The reset instructions solved the problem. Thanks a lot.
Good deal, thanks for posting back so we know what worked.
Questions about the reset instructions:
it looks like 2 separate reset procedures. Do you do both? Are both done with the engine in the Run position?
Bob
The second set is actually setting the R2LC TMCC ID and the engine type, those are done in PGM. The speed steps at the end are done in RUN mode as is the first reset sequence in the document. They're actually arranged backwards I suspect, you should first do the R2LC settings, then do the cruise reset. The speed steps can be done anytime in RUN mode.
Since my engine is a command engine with cruise, I started with those instructions and then set the speed steps. I did use the 128 step option. All commands were completed in the "Run" mode. It seemed to work even though I did not use the "Pgm" mode. If the programming does not stay next time I run the engine, I will make the changes in the "Pgm" mode.
Thanks GRJ for clarifying. I have often seen programming or reset instructions that fail to indicate which mode to put the engine in. Confusing for late-comers like me.
Bob
Obviously, the PGM mode stuff was correct already.
