KCS Debuts Veterans Unit

Nice catch..thanks for posting..i am a KCS fan..

Not bad, but I prefer UP 1943 & NS 6920 over this unit. Something about the stars and the large red & white like a flag, just seems very large and should of been something different. Also, it seems KCS tried to copy 1943.

Interesting. For a "veterans"unit I thought it would have a Standard EMD cab.

Looks Great! I'm happy that KCS is honoring our Veterans!

The first tought in my mind was it is almost as bad as the unit pained for the Bi-centennial in 1975-1976.

I do not know how much a repaint is, but that money I think could go to help vets who habe been hurt in the line of duty. Or to families whose loned one gave all..

Also Sunday was the 100th aniv. of what became Veterans Day.  The President gave the government employees half a day off because of the stop of the fighting on the Western Front of WWI.  That would jave made a very interesting heritage unit, unifying the history of the day.

I like it more than the UP 1943.

The blue front and stars is very attractive.

I love the intent behind it, but not my favorite veterans unit.  It’s a little too busy IMO.

But thumbs up to KCS for honoring veterans!

Not bad but I think it would've looked better if they had eliminated the back third paint scheme and just utilized the first two thirds over the entire length of the body.

I like the entire idea for the paint scheme. 

I would suggest a few modifications:

1. The front third, I would make the stars large enough to have room for 50 stars.
2. The middle third, I would have 13 stripes on each side (7 red and 6 white).
3. The back third seems to honor only the army. I would have liked it to display all five branches of the military.

Thanks for posting these great pictures of the KCS  Veterans Engine!

Matt, its more than just cool, it honors those who have kept our country safe and free.  That sir is way way cool!

I like it.   Beats the monotonous passage of pumpkin, yellow, black, gray locomotives. Hope I see it!  Good for maverick KCS !

What mfg. will be the first to make it? I'm hoping for a MTH railking model. It's very attractive and besides anyway a company that celebrates the U.S. military is ok with me.

I figure Lionel and MTH will do it in the next catalog release. It looks like I'll be adding another ACe to my poker hand.

Nothing wrong with the message, but design wise, not very attractive.

Maybe BNSF can do a heritage / veterans type unit:

I think she’s a nice looking 70Ace repaint. I will definitely have to pick one of these up if Athearn makes it. Then I can have the Veterans Locomotive Trio!

After getting over the "graphic shock," I'm finding it more attractive than UP 1943.
