I am just getting back into the hobby after a few years away. I was setting up my Kline 042 switches and ran into some issues. I have 2 switches that when they are switched from the curve back to straight short out the track and pop the transformer. I see a spark when they snap back. Anyone seen this issue before? Also a couple of them don't work with direct power wiring only the track power.

I am using the Kline shadow rail and lionel tubular track that I have. I also am having an issue with power drain. I have a TPC300 wired into the atlas toggle switches and power two loops using lionel tmcc. I have a MRC dual power transformer wired from one post to the tpc300. For some reason if I run both loops the power drops off, but shut one loop and power seems normal. If I take the TPC out of the equation I have no issues either wiring both throttle posts or just one. I was thinking the atlas toggle was not working right with the TPC. Thoughts? I use the atlas toggles as a safety with kids in case need to cut power. Thanks for any help.

Trainman81,

You have your switches set up improperly, take them off track power and power them independently with a seperate transformer.  Old 042 K-Line switches are like old Lionel 711 & 072 switches, they use masssive power.  I have not used the old K-Line switches in years, even then they had their problems.   I would suggest you look at acquiring different switches, either older 072 Lionel or newer K-line Super Snap will operate correctly for you, when set up & powered properly.   Your Atlas toggles if connected properly, should not be your problem.
