At a fellow 3-railer's layout we were working with lash-ups on 4.30 and have the problem of all the sounds cutting out, running quiet for a while, then the sound cuts back in ... and out ...

This happened with two different lash-ups and we're wondering if this is a known problem, or if someone else had it and found a solution?  Thanks!

Lash up thats a S&M thing using rope right?

On a serious note. After  you create  the Mu/Consists /Lash up you need to go back while  the engines are running and set the sound, acceleration , smoke volume on the individual  engines in the lash up. that should eliminate the issue. Also if you do a thread  search on Lash ups. you will find this was all covered recently.

It turned out to be the rickety clack was set to auto, with a volume so low I almost didn't hear it.  Set it off and the sound is working as expected.  Nope, that's not a bug ... operator error.  Didn't see the head light problem as I don't use the smoke due to no trainroom ventilation to exhaust it.  That's a next-year project.

I don't think the headlight situation is a bug but a "stray command" or "noise" that can be caused by other events on a layout when multiple trains are involved (we're usually running at least three on the primary main at any given time). I've seen that happen with Super TIU mode even on single-unit locomotives, but in test running using a single TIU I've never been able to duplicate it. The frequency of this occurrence seems to have dropped quite a bit under version 4.3. The situation is also difficult to replicate as I'm about the only one at the club that runs DCS MU's ("lash-ups").

Doesn't accessing the individual engines once the lash-up moves them to the Inactive Engines list mess things up for the lashup?

How do I turn up the volume on the trailing unit sound without hosing the lash-up?

No. When you do it. You will have to move the individual engines back to the active list. While you have the lash up running. Just bring up the individual engines.

Remember you do not need to turn engines on as they are already running under the lash up.

Select Menu.

Sound and make your changes.

Once your done. Select engine and bring up the lash up ID

Press select and your done. To insure the changes have been made. Turn the lash up off and the turn it back on again. Under DCS 4.20 this saves the changes. Under 4.30 this step was eliminated. But do it anyway. It won't hurt.
