The last of the 24 hour marathon just started now. Love the display window at the beginning, and the nostalgia throughout the movie.
Hard to beat Gene Shepard.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Thanks, been watching it for 30 plus years. I'm pretty sure I know the dialog from memory. It is also running on TNT.
Certainly one of my favorite Holiday movies. I like Its a Wonderful Life the best, then this one comes in a close second...

Perhaps Kusan? I think Williams was only selling kits in the early 1980's, but could be wrong.
No train directly visible in this shot, but it's reflection is in the window.
Thanks...just got back from Mocking Jay (Hunger Games) at theater...and hit start over on the DVR..(yeah, I like Christmas Story alot better )
Got more bad news to tell you guys..saw this on facebook...the lefties/racist people want it band....because its racist.......Can anyone leave christmas tradion alone!!..heres the artical on it...
I have the DVD.....so weather its on or not....I'll be watching!!
Window displays are so beautiful and the work is incredible. The artistry to create such magical displays blows my mind. Reminds me personally of those days when I was a child and my parents would take my sister and I to DC and see the Christmas windows at Woodward & Lothrop. Almost always they had a Lionel working train and needless to say......I wanted it!

I said goodbye to Ralphie about 4PM Christmas Day, went
to my daughter's house to open presents. To say I love
that movie is one big understatement.
"See you in Oz folks," will see you next year Ralphie. Gee
I hope he gets that rifle.
Many thanks,

By posting about the article here, you are serving the author by increasing its visibility.
As far as I am concerned, Jean Shepard was not a racist, nor was the movie. The article was written by one person, and reflects that one person's opinion. I know of no organized effort to ban the movie.
But since you bring it up, maybe the anti-gun lobby will seek to have the movie banned because it glorifies guns.
For the record: I played with toy guns as a child. As an adult, I have no interest in guns, but respect the rights of those that do. And I listened to Jean on WOR in NYC, and have read all his books multiple times. I even have a copy of Excelsior, You Fathead, but haven't read the whole thing yet.
Isn't this board supposed to be free of politics?
Everyone lives in harmony in my world of Lionel.
My kids gave my the 25th Anniversary DVD set a few years back and we always watch it when they're home for the holidays. For a movie that I didn't even know about until the late 90's or so, it's amazing how much it's become a holiday classic.
