This may be a "new guy" question, but what is the latest edition of the DCS Companion, The DCS Companion 3rd Edition or the The DCS Wifi Companion 2nd Edition? Is the WiFi one just a WiFi update to The DCS Companion 3rd Edition with additional information on Wifi? I'm confused as to which one to buy. I probably won't ever need WiFi functionality, but you never know. Thanks!

Those are the latest versions that I know of. Sadly, with Barry's passing, I doubt you'll see any updates, so it is what it is.
Exactly. Barry’s passing is tragic for his family first and then the O Gauge/Scale community as a whole.

If you are not going to use wi-fi, you don't need the wi-fi book. Just get the DCS Companion 3rd Edition. The wi-fi companion is supplementary. This is not from personal experience but from what I've read and been told by others.
Well, yes. The title of the book kinda' gives it away. 
The DCS Companion is the one mainly for remotes and setup of a complete system with TIU and remote. It also contains limited WiFi info. he Wifi Companion is exactly that it deals with setting up a WiFi system and everything about it but nothing concerning the remote. BUY BOTH! You will not be sorry!

That would be my recommendation, as well! You may not need/want WiFi now, but it sure can't hurt to have both of these references available.
Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and buy both.
