For $70 I'm guessing I got a good deal. I know all the decals can be replaced but is there anyone that can recreate the paint job?

Well, I'm sure somebody here can, or knows of somebody who can; I'm equally sure that that "somebody" isn't me!

For what it's worth, I'd leave it like it is. Replace the decals and that's it. From the photo, it doesn't look that bad! More importantly, how does it run? Gilbert diesels can be a problem if the axle bushings are worn. Otherwise, it looks like you got a good buy. If there are a few scratches that bother you, consider mixing up some touch up paint, but even then...
I should have taken some close up photos. They are scuffed up pretty good so they will need a repaint to really make them right. As far as how they run I have not tested them yet. There is a bit of play in the axles.
Looks pretty good to me. At least aesthetically. Granted photo's can fool, but on the other hand there's a lot to be said for originality and authenticity. In any case be sure to first get it running well. The rest will fall into place after that. In case they help, here are a few things to view. Let us know how it goes.
