On my layout.
Never thought of doing it, but not opposed to it. I like good humor other than the ice cream. 
I have some humorous names, etc., on buildings, but the only thing I have humorous along the roads, etc., is two Burma Shave sign sets.
Nothing yet, as I still need to build the layout. But when I do, there'll be fun things like dinos and Daleks (Which fit perfect in stock cars!).

There was a nice thread on humorous vignettes this past summer. Search the forum. Most have something cool if you look at the detail.

Frank Ellison was the master at tongue-in-cheek names for places on his layout. There were dozens of cute place names that would bring a smile to faces of visitors. Places like: Al K. Hall Distilleries, Laydee-Zunder Warehouse, Aboo Peak mountain or a hydroelectric power plant on a river callled "Dodd Dam".
I've picked up a few including: "Pheedom and Chowke" Food Distributor and a Electrical Supply House constructed on the rear side of my control panel called: "Schortz and Sparx Company. Why not have a little fun with your layout?

Not a roadside attraction, The Mackinac Bridge, has been spanning the Straits of Mackinac for over 56 years. This bridge brings two Peninsulas of Michigan together. This could be modeled by model railroaders.

Scenic Express has a mat with a crop circle already made for you. It longer than yours tho and not as geometric.

Scenic Express also has a UFO in the back of the catalog. There was a thread on them recently as well.
A company in Arizona (and maybe elsewhere) is named after the founder of the company: Pasmore Gas, dealing in industrial gases.

I like the crop circle idea, maybe on a backdrop to save space...
Currently I collect lego or similar mini-figures to use on the layout. I have a few Super Mario characters made by knex, and just yesterday picked up a couple versions of Doctor Who. These figures are a little big, but they are meant to be toys so it really doesn't bother me. I am still waiting to find a Tardis about the right size. These may be more fanciful than "roadside attraction". Once Iget something more permanent going I hope to add a Pagoda. This would be to emulate the real Pagoda above Reading PA.
