So I finally finished and tested the last of the trackwork. As with all plans and projects that are re-thought or have changed along the way, compromise rules. My original plan was to use the remaining area for a turntable/steam facility and a small yard area. The turntable and roundhouse took up WAY too much of the available space and would have had to be located in a difficult area should a problem arise. The "compromise" plan was for a small yard area, a wye, and a diesel facility with engine storage sidings and a small industrial area with a few operating accessories.
Yard area with scenic base color applied over a coating of Structolite. Next step is a light coating of a grass ground cover.
Completed wye before any scenics. Yard in backround.
Diesel facility with storage tracks and industrial area. Scenic base color applied.
Everyone has an "oddball" area where nothing seems to fit.
This will hopefully become a sloping hillside covered with trees.
Base coat of Structolite applied and Hydrocal rocks from rubber molds installed.
Base coat and color applied. Rocks tinted. Ground cover applied on vertical surfaces.
Another one of "those" areas.
I've got some static grass supplies to be picked up at York so I'll give that a try. If it works out I will use the technique to fill in some areas already completed. Progress!
