For the past several months I've been focused on building a highly freelanced Tyrone, PA scene. While the buildings and scene elements require further work I thought some may find seeing the progress interesting.
With reach issues, to facilitate construction and maintenance the town is comprised of 12 slide-in sidewalk/building base modules (most with 2-3 buildings on them). I glued 1/8" Masonite sheets to the 3/4" plywood base to provide a smooth surface for the building modules and roads. The roads were spray painted (outside) with Rustoliem dark gray multicolor texture paint. Aligning pins position the modules on the layout, and in turn the removable buildings are positioned on the modules using short pieces of 3/8" stripwood. Please ignore the ATSF logo on the Athearn HO water tank - it will be repainted with the town name on it. What I didn't consider at the start of the town project is how many more automobiles I'm going to need.
