Guys thanks for the kind remarks.  What I like best about the OGR forum is that it's a convenient place to share modelling tips and be encouraged through photos by the work of others.  While I enjoy doing scenery,  I see it as a means to an end - that being to provide a setting for prototype based operations.   My railroad was designed with five locations to provide operating interest. They are:

Oceola Mills: Coal collection yard and engine terminal on the Tyrone and Clearfield Branch supporting 4 mines

Tyrone, PA :  Junction for coal traffic coming down to the Middle Div. mainline from Oceola Mills

Horseshoe Curve:  Heavy 4 track mainline and helper district

Altoona, PA:  Base for helper operations, engine changes, division point yard

Huntingdon ,PA : PRR interchange with the H&BT short line (coal and milk)

The first 3 can loosely be termed "finished".  Altoona and Huntingdon are operational but a number of structures need to be built/modified for the scenes to be ready for a feature article.  After Tyrone my next focus will be the Huntingdon scene (mostly false fronts)  and H&BT rolling stock.  As work progresses I'll post photos on the forum.

A full feature article on the railroad is still sometime in the future.

I believe the onion dome corner drug store was a Thomas Yorke hydro cal plaster kit - it's very heavy.  I purchased it 3rd hand years ago from a fellow who was selling off his O scale in favor of HO.   It's first owner was Dr. Bill Truscot.

If I had more space I would like to have modeled PRR's Bald Eagle Branch  street run past homes in Tyrone.  The real Tyrone and Clearfield Branch to Oceola Mills used a short section of the Bald Eagle Branch tracks through Tyrone to connect with the PRR Middle Division at a small yard controlled by Gray tower.  I was in Tyrone on a rainy morning in 1987 to video restored K4s 1361's first run.  In dramatic fashion it stalled right in town on wet rails.  To restart it backed down the street and made a run for it!.

Beautiful Ed!

Don't forget the two most important buildings in PA railroad towns.  Bars and  churches.

Every corner had a bar and every ethnicity had a church.

As a Pennsylvania resident born and raised, I can vouch for this! ESPECIALLY in the coal region. This layout is absolutely incredibly!
