Wondering if I can do this for a small Christmas layout. I am basically using a starter set. I've run LC+2.0 on it just fine and was thinking that since the newer Legacy models can run AC or DC then I may have the option to do this. I don't plan on purchasing any other power supply or want to move my existing Z1000 power supply to this temporary layout. I would only be using the BT app or the universal remote.

I did a search on this but the results were dated back to before or around the time Legacy switched to being powered by DC as an option.

If your Legacy locomotive is unmodified and it's Owner's Manual says it can run on DC, it should be ok to use a Lionchief 54 watt power supply.  However, with it's 3 Amps max output, the power supply's circuit protection may kick in if you turn on the smoke unit and/or run enough cars with incandescent lights.  Regardless, I don't see how anything would be harmed in this scenario.

I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm mistaken.
