I was attempting to update the firmware on my Base 3 this morning. Went through the procedure of rebooting the Base 3 and going into AP mode. Connected my iPhone to Base 3 via WiFi, I went to connect through the Cab3 app, which it would briefly connect, then I would get kicked out saying I wasn't connecting to a Base3 unit. Any ideas why this occurred. Made several attempts, checked the WiFi connection of Base3 in network mode and reads my home network, restarted my iPhone. I am using the latest of the Cab3 app.

Any advice?

I also tried to update to the Base 1.28 firmware and get a new popup saying I am connected to a NON-Base 3 unit.  Not sure what that message means.

It appears to be connected with App where it tells us it's not connected to a Base3.  The Base3 utility works just fine.  I suspect an update to the app will be pushed sooner than later to correct this.

We know Lionel monitors this board so I suspect they knew about this early if not before.

Yeah, I forgot about the B3SU.  I upgraded the firmware with the utility with no issue.

Unfortunately, the Base3/Cab3 updates did not solve the Triplex 4-Digit issue.   It made it worse and now mine have wheels running in opposite directions like everyone else's, lol.

I'll have to hijack my son's Windows computer and download the B3SU (I primarily have Macs) and do the firmware upgrade

Or wait a bit until Lionel fixes the issue.  I'm not sure there is a big priority to update it from the list I saw.

Release Notes:

  • Bluetooth sub-system
    • When monitoring “SET” command, do not clear B3 database entry if no BLE loco paired on this address
    • Convert Legacy “SET” command to TMCC1 SET command so decoder will process all pairing requests
  • RF sub-system
    • When monitoring “SET” command, do not clear B3 database entry if no RF loco paired on this address
    • Convert Legacy “SET” command to TMCC1 SET command so decoder will process all pairing requests
  • Modify PDI port controls
    • Create API command processing and logic to reallocate PDI port board ID assignment ranges and enables
    • Major changes to restructure the port allocation relative to PING/board IDs
    • skip sending echoes between PDI ports keeping traffic lower in the PDI port processing
    • skip sending internal PDI command requests out over the PDI ports
    • Blink PDI power LED if the port does not have board ID allocation for modules connected
  • Fix record locking on 4-Digit info requests
    • Fix ID2/ID4 lookup sequencers to reset state machine if a record is locked, otherwise subsequent lookups may fail
  • Fix potential for buffer overflow; fix missing fields
    • when reading module data length, limit size of data transfer to buffer size
    • initialize the PMID and BTMAC fields properly on restore from module
  • Skip Serial EnQueue when queue is disable
    • to improve system throughput, do not add processing for queues that are not active, stopping queue overflows

RE: Updating Base3 using the Base3 System Utility:

I think the answer is "no" but here goes:

My PC is connected to my home internet via ethernet cable and has no Wifi. I can connect to my Base3 fine this way.

It looks like (from the instructions) that you need to connect to the Base3 using the Basse3 Utility in "AP" mode (via the Base3's Wifi) to install the update.

I don't think I can connect to the Base3 from my PC this way.

Am I correct?

BTW, I am in no big rush to do the update, just curious.

Thanks!
