These are the fixes we have received in the last update.
- Cab3 Update 4 by Dave Olson
V1.1.046
Release date: 11/5/24
This release fixes the following:
- Wi-Fi connection changes
- In Wi-Fi configuration screen, when you hit SET, a pop-up will show
- Pop-up if attempting to connect to non-Base3 devices
- Numerous fixes for 4-Digit engine performance particularly for VISION TriPlex support
- SET command now repeats when held down
- Direction synchronization on throttle changes
- Throttle to zero now reliably stops loco
- TMCC Train start-up/shutdown commands
- TR tab occasionally crashes APP
- Wi-Fi connection changes
fyi…My update reads 1.1.46-156
My android CAB3 app updated to 1.1.46-156. Then I found a bug. Legacy Powermaster using the ENG address. Every time I move the throttle up, track power goes to 0 then back up to where I set it. Still does it after the Base3 1.28 update. Not good for conventional engines. Especially with the E unit engaged. I have a volt meter on the track and can watch it happen. I turned it in. I guess I am still waiting for the next update for the CAB3 to work.

I posted my issues with this direction button / throttle position bug in detail and Dave acknowledged. The other critical fix for conventional and TMCC Pullmor motored engines is to have the ability to TURN OFF momentum in CAB mode. I find it impossible to run postwar and modern AC motored engines with the momentum lag, even in low momentum. I only want one thing - For the CAB-3 app to be able to do what my CAB-1L and CAB-2 remotes can do.
It's been a long time, too long since they updated the CAB 3. There are a lot of issues. Among them controlling the power output of the ZW-C and ZW-L through the TR control. The problem with the Powermasters is probably related. I think by now you probably have to conclude it can't be fixed. I think Lionel needs to go for a full featured CAB 4 handheld with bluetooth, WIFI and RF and 4 digit addressing. I think WIFI should begin to show up in locomotives as well for better addressing and 2-way communication.
Dave 69,
I have no problems with signals coming out of the Base3, good range. And we'll see about the ZW-C and ZW-L control, they said they were making progress and would release the update when it was ready. we've waited this long, might as well wait a bit longer.
The last time I reported issues in early March they replied back and said they would have an update by the end of March. They didn't say what year.

David,
Why would you possibly ask for a Cab 4 when the Cab 3/Base 3 system isn't quite ready for prime time yet? Since they've proven they couldn't get the bugs out of the 3 series in a timely fashion, why would a 4 series be any better out of the chute?
The new one will also come with its own slow-to-be-resolved problems.
Impatient? Or glutton for punishment? Or both?
Mike
