I have an MTH 8 ohm fan driven smoke unit and I’m wondering if it is safe to use it with ERR Cruise Commander R4LC receiver. I blew the triac on another engine with a 6 ohm smoke unit.  I ended up putting a 28 ohm resister in that smoke unit and all is good.  Trying to avoid replacing another triac if possible! Thanks, Ed

No, not safe to use as is. 20 Ohms is the minimum recommended load on the smoke output of the R2LC platform.

So as a range 20-27 Ohms is what may people use. 27 ohms is on the high side (high resistance, less power and less intense smoke) VS 20 Ohms being the higher heat and smoke output before too much current and overheating the TRIAC.
