How many of you have the LCCA General pair from a couple of years ago?

Are these 'in demand' from the general train public or just to LCCA members?

My wife likes Generals and we have the Super O No 1872. A club member has the recent D&RG with the large snowplow and it is a really nice model.

Reason I ask is that I've seen them on the bay several times that sit for weeks with no bids asking $500 or less. I've heard that these are arguably the best Generals that Lionel has built with special sounds and good smoke. Is there a significant difference from the other recent Generals produced in sets?

I would gather that these are truly 'limited/ (??) in production compared to the regular sets over the years. Your thoughts please?

Hi Sam - I have the LCCA "Great Chase" General pair.  I believe the paint job on these two engines are the best I have seen on any General Lionel has produced.  I have to admit I have not run the pair, I have them on display in my living room.  They attract lot's of attention from visitors.  I don't know why they don't move now.  They were a bit pricy and I don't know how many were made in the run.  I have seen prices drop for the LCCA Halloween set also.  Maybe the market is now flooded with Generals.  I do not regret my purchase though.  They are keepers.

I bought the pair from the Lcca and gave them to my brother as a Christmas gift. They look and run great. The reason they may not be selling on eBay and other places is that the sellers are trying to screw the buyers. I believe I paid $399 to the Lcca.

Its a great set and if you can get them at a more reasonable cost, go for it but pay no more then $450 IMO.
