Just added a sensor track to my layout and a new Makado with it from lionel.  The Legacy remote shows that the sensor is set up in cab 1 mode.   When I run my es44ac the sensor recognizes it and will activate whatever command I have set it up for.  When I run my Makado nothing happens.  Legacy controller recognizes it but nothing happens when the engine passes over the sensor. No signal light and no action command.  I did notice that when I was setting up the Makado, I could not get the sensor to recognize the engine at that time and had to set it up using the chip provided by Lionel.   Any ideas on what is wrong and how to correct it?  Is cab one the correct mode for the sensor track?

Check the Makado engine to be sure it has an IR transmitter chip...  Look under the tender as that is the most likely place the chip will be...   If you had to set it up using the Lionel module [orange Legacy engine module] then it should have been set to operate in Legacy mode not CAB1...  You can try adding the engine module again and see if that corrects the CAB1 issue...  My suspicion is that the Makado does not have the chip to activate the sensor track even though it's a Legacy engine...  I recently got two B&M SW2 switchers which are Legacy but neither of them have the chip...

So  first look for the chip as I mentioned above....

I checked under the tender and there is a chip there.  The cab 1 setting is how the sensor track shows up on the legacy remote.  The engine shows up as being in legacy mode.  I cleared the settings on the remote for the engine.  Turned the power back onto the track and tried to get the engine to move under conventional. (Did not turn off legacy system). The engine never did respond to power being on the track, so I reloaded the data onto the remote and then ran it over the sensor track.  Still no response.  Is there Something special that you Have to do to get the engine to run in conventional?

The only way to run in conventional is turn of the Legacy base.

The sensor track should be set as an accessory. Cab1 mode has nothing to do with the sensor track. The sensor track should read the Mikado. It should also trigger the action. The es44 would have to have an IR sensor in it to trigger the action from the sensor track.

Did you program the sensor track as an accessory using the CAB (as Marty mentions)?  Follow the procedure in the manual that came with the sensor track...

Also, try deleting the engine from the Cab2 and then reload it using the orange engine module... If it is a Legacy engine it should be run that way...

The sensor track is programmed as an accessory .  The legacy controller is running ver. 1.54.  I have disabled the automatic base updates and then turned them back on and I deleted the engine from the legacy remote and then reloaded it with the orange chip.  Nothing seems to work on it thru the ir sensor track.  It works fine with my es44.  Any other ideas or is it time to call Lionel warranty service?  Thanks

To me if one loco is working and the other is not, it sounds like an issue with the Mikado.
