do you have a plus and minus in the 89 spot?

Yes a plus and minus. Holding the Plus key does nothing.  Pressing it activates crew talk.  So I have two buttons for activating crew talk.  The regular one and the plus key.

But when you get to step 6  pressing aux turns off the number keypad.  So you cannot hit the corresponding number.

Seems I am missing all the functions listed in the original post.

It's been awhile since I've ran my TMCC stuff but try pressing aux-1 first then the +/- key.

Tried that.  Did not work.  Lionel is stumped too.

Set the control type to cab 1 before you do the reset. It will keep the display numeric or just push the icon where that number would be in TMCC mode. Same difference. 

After a reset with Cab 1 model or tmcc mode when I push the 9 it just does crew talk.  Just like the crew talk icon above.  I have had it where the 9 is a + symbol and it does the same thing.

A reset did fix the coupler firing problem.  They now work.  Still no smoke.  I am thinking that I have an issue in the smoke unit but don't know how to diagnose it.  I will post a request for that in a different thread.

You mentioned in your original post that it was nice control for conventional.  Did you make sure your powermaster was switched to command mode.

     Now that you have your TMCC Cab1 working correctly, IMO Legacy is the next step, and if you do not have them already, Command Control Switches that operate wirelessly

from the Cab2 or TMCC Cab1.  Further if you add DCS you will not even need a Powermaster.  Some real cool stuff no doubt about it.
