Since it seems impossible to locate a Pennsylvania Railroad TMCC Boom Car, I was wondering if a Legacy Boom Car would be compatible with a TMCC Crane?

Bob, I wasn’t sure so I played around with my legacy boom car. The control is CAB1 and the sound is legacy. I changed the sound to RS5 and tried it. I could not hear any difference, even the quilling horn worked.
Based on this, I would say that pairing the legacy boom car with the TMCC crane will work fine.
When the Legacy stuff was coming out, it was stated that you could use the Legacy boom car with the TMCC crane. I don't know if that actually happened as my crane and boom car are both TMCC.
Much thanks to those of you who took the time to respond! I pulled the pin on a New Legacy Boom Car on Ebay for under $180.00 shipped! The only issue is that it's a CSX boom car. I'll try to find some PRR MOW decals and and then I'll repaint it.

Greetings Everyone,
I just wanted to corroborate what DANR posted. The Legacy Boom Car is, in fact, compatible with the TMCC Crane. I received my Legacy CSX Boom car today and I was able to pair it with the TMCC PRR Crane that I previously purchased. This thing is WAY COOL!

Why so few PRR boom cars? I have a PRR TMCC crane but I too, cannot find the matching boom car. I would even go with a MTH Premier version, but no Pennsy versions are out there...

Tom,
I am experiencing the exact problem which is why I chose to purchase the CSX Legacy Boom Car. If all you're interested in is the "play value" by all means go ahead and purchase a Legacy Boom Car (road name not being important) just to be able to enjoy the sound associated with the crane. Check Ebay, there are still a few available with reasonable price tags. It seems that the PRR Boom Cars are as rare as Hen's teeth. Good luck in your quest.

Hi Bob. I picked up a LVRR Premier MTH boom tender to repaint but I just hate going over a nice looking factory paint job, lol. One of these day soon, I will strip it and start painting.
I have the same issue with the smaller MTH Railking wrecker I have in CNJ lettering. It seems MTH never made a matching boom car for this crane. Lots of obscure railroad boom cars, but nothing we need!
