I have a Lionel Legacy F7 set (A/A- with a powered, and unpowered A) SKU 6-85206.  It has been fine for several years now.  A week or so ago, a friend and I were running two trains (using TMCC Cab 1) and suddenly the F7 seemed to switch over to "Conventional" -  sort of.  But not totally in Conventional.  It will only go forward, no sound.

I tried a Aux-0 reset, then a full factory reset- nothing. The loco seems to not even see input from the Command Base.  And, other Legacy, TMCC engines all work normally.

My suspicion is a spike of some kind that zapped a PC board.  I have pretty well determined that I need to drop it off at a Lionel Service Center.

BUT- is there anything else I could try first??

Update (3 months later) - the Lionel authorized service center got the engine  couple of weeks after my (and GRJ) post.  Has had it for, now over three months and started by replacing the RCMC after a visual check of everything else.

It is still unresponsive to commands of any kind- TMCC, conventional, any.  It will not even come up in conventional mode.  When you power up the loco it takes off  at full tilt.  He cannot see any signs of an electronic failure anywhere else in the unit.

The authorized SC guy (who has spent years servicing Lionel with his now-deceased father- the original shop owner) contacted the Lionel service techs by phone.  They are puzzled as well.

Any ideas??
