Legacy Problem.

I would try connecting the Legacy wire directly to an outside rail and see if that works.

I assume the logic behind that would be the assumption that it is a signal loss?  I thought since the legacy unit had an antenna that the signal did not go thru the track.  I will give it a try.  I just have a feeling that the blinking light inside of the engine cab means something that I am not aware of.

Having had a similar problem in the past, try turning off the smoke switch on the locomotive.

The product number of this engine might be helpful.  I'm not sure if this has the diagnostic codes for the cab flashing but we maybe able to tell from the product number.

  If you are using a CAB-2 remote make sure your engine brake lever is not applied. If there is a solid blue line under your Cab-2 screen the brake is on. Sometimes they stick so work the brake lever up and down until the blue line is gone.

The engine is aSanta Fe A/F U33 - C Legacy 6-48185.

JohnB.  My display screen is black and white.  Is there a new Cab2 controller that is in color?  (I.e. Blue line)?

The train brake slider seems very loose.  I wonder if it is broken and not moving the slider that should be attached to it.

There is only one Legacy CAB2 display, it's monochrome.  However, the text is actually blue, hence the "blue line".

The train brake  can feel pretty "free", how about a picture of the CAB2 screen for the engine you're having the issue with.

That's an internal issue with the engine, the blinking is an error code.  A single continuous blink is drive motor stall.

Since all of your engines have the same problem then it must be in the controller itself.  It could have a software problem........I would send it back to a Lionel service center and have it checked out.

I checked the manual and this particular American Flyer engine doesn't list the error codes in the manual.  I wasn't sure if this was truly and error code or some other issue.  Being AF by Lionel, I'm not as familiar with there setup.

Have you tried disconnecting the Legacy base and run the trains in Conventional mode?  

Do they operate forward and reverse as they should?

The brake slider detached internally so it was stuck on brake.  I opened up the unit and repaired it.  Thanks for everyone’s help.
