A while back Lionel was in Perpetual service mode when it came to supporting the Legacy base and remotes. Does anyone know if that is still the case. Appreciate any feedback here
thanks Steve

Yes. They still repair them with the cost of shipping to them as long as the system wasn't outright abused. Call them and get an RA. Legacy is still repaired as a warranty item.
Marty, do you know if they will warranty repair those bought on the secondary market? I have been interested in a used one for a backup/second remote. Thx

I'm not sure. That would be a question for Lionel. I don't know how they could tell. Mine is from the first batch and the receipt is long gone. There's no way I could prove I'm the original owner.
I would contact service and ask. I can't believe that would matter but I've been wrong before.
So, thinking about this some more, I went back through my saved emails; lo n behold, I found the exchanges when mine was repaired after two weeks of use, a little over a year ago. Receipt required, as stated in a couple of different places. Although I imagine this requirement could be relaxed/waived due to the extension of the warranty to an indefinite time period. Seems to me that if there is no warranty time limit it wouldn’t matter on number of owners My reticence in calling Lionel would be to draw attention to the fact and causing them to make an unpopular decision. Is it better to let a sleeping dog lie?
Marty, Ted, Thanks for the info.
My issues were at the TMB club layout last night. I decided to try it again on my home layout this morning and was still having some level of difficulty. I was using regular batteries, usually Duracell but recently replaced them with batteries (Thunderbolt) which I got as a free gift at Harbor Freight and noticed the batteries were loose fit.
I decided to install the rechargeable Nickle Metal Hydride batteries Lionel provided. They fit snugly and snapped into place. After a charging them up in the Legacy recharger everything worked fine. Hope this helps someone else going forward

Steve,
I use the Lowes brand alkaline batteries in the cab-1's and cab-2's with no problems. In the cab-2, I replace them when the 3 bars goes down to nothing and when it flashes, the backlit no longer comes on, then I change the batteries.
Best of luck.
I have sent my 990 in Twice without a receipt and the Clubs Once ! I got my 990 with the BIG BOY Purchase quite a number of years ago, so there was no receipt anyway! Just saying!!
Fred
I just sent mine I had for 7 years no receipt needed
