Legacy U30C smoke unit died - is it worth it to replace?

I would fix it...carefully. It would bother me if it weren't all working even if I didn't use some of the features. And, maybe it will become a great smoker!

I would but theres a bell that has to be removed by the gas tank to remove the shell..

It's not that bad to remove the shell of the U-Boat, I'd personally fix it. 

Okay, so what are the correct procedures fro removing the shell?

Not bad, don't recall the exact procedures as it was a while back on a TMCC one seem to recall the bell issue jojofry mentioned. It was sticking the wires back in during reassembly that was a bit difficult as they repeatedly tried to escape capture!

Frequently, it's a good idea to tape a few of the wires in place before trying to stick the shell back on.  Other than the bell having to be pried off, I don't remember any major issues.

 

Yea its not hard. I just wanted to say something about the bell.. Also i always fully test the smoke unit before installing it back theres little tweaks with that plastic housing that can make it not as loud ..

It's one of the thing I like about cell phone cameras, I always take photos along the way!!

Jeff I will have a table there, not sure exactly where it will be until tomorrow during setup. Just look for all the big white transportation/storage boxes. My wife will be at the table in a bright pink T shirt if I happen to be roaming around.
