So its been a while since I had an upgrade - Been some time since I was able to run trains. I posted on the legacy section and was given the link to Marty's links. But I am still confused. I have to buy the writable modules (1 for base and 1 for remote). Download the software from Lionel. Then how do I get the downloads to the modules so I can upgrade the units?

Also I am using version 1.2 or 1.3 (what ever version that Lionel upgraded it to back in the day) can I skip all the way to 1.61 and get all the updates that were in between?

I see on Ro's web page that I can buy the memory modules in 1.6 and that's easy enough if I can skip that far. But I think I will need 1.61 to operate my new GG1 so I guess I would be back to downloading.

Thanks

You can go from 1.2 to any current version of Legacy software, so 1.60 is fine.  I'm sure that very soon Charles Ro will have 1.61 on the modules to purchase.

The modules are written in the Legacy command base using the LSU (Legacy System Utility) from Lionel.  It requires a serial port on your Windows computer, or a USB <-> Serial dongle.

Here's the page to download the LSU and the current versions of the command base and CAB2 software: https://www.lionelsupport.com/...5&productNumber=

I'm trying to upgrade my base and controller but am having difficulty even downloading the utility system to do so.  My computer is running Windows 10 and I'm wondering if this is the problem.  Does anyone know if the Utility 2.0 will run on Windows 10?  If not, any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

Yes, it installs fine. Right-click the downloaded 6964 folder and select extract all - you will have a new folder named 6964 without the zipper icon. It should open content viewing automatically. Double-click setup and the installer should start. There should be a permission message. Select yes. Then, there is a file warning - keep the one that have - select yes and it should be done.

Go to programs and launch it.

Now you need a usb to serial adapter and have it installed with drivers.

Then, the LSU will find it automatically.
