Has anyone  attempted to repair a Lemax carousel? I've had mine for 5-6 years now, and it has worked well up to this point But now the sound has suddenly stopped working. It played to the end of the selection, but never restarted. On a related note, the mechanism also has an intermittent glitch or catch as the platform revolves. Has anyone opened one up? The Lemax website is of no use, and Lemax has no repair factility.

C speaker 1Now that I've tackled most of my engine issues, back to this one. I figured out how to pull the carousel apart (another post on that later). The most obvious issue is seen in the picture below: A broken lead on the speaker. I seems the PC board piece as broken and in the process, severed the connection to the speaker. My question is how to repair this?  Glue the board with ACC, and then quickly solder? Remove the broken PCB piece and solder to what is left? There is not a whole lot of surface area left to attach the lead, once I remove it from the PCB piece. Solder directly to the speaker frame?

BTW, I suspect the glitch in the mechanism is also related to the broken lead. I think the wire was catching periodically on the rotating parts and causing momentary drag. Time will tell, after I put it back together. I do not see any dirt or junk in the gears (yet), and at first glance, they do not appear to be broken.

Getting that Lemax stuff apart is a real bear, I've found. They use a lot of glue to put things together, rather than screws (cheaper assembly process) and extremely fine wires (cheap, again, I suppose), and I've had to practically use a hammer and chisel to get them apart, and then it's easy to break the fine wires or other pieces in the process. I have several dead items lying around to trash - no reasonable way to fix them.
