For me a layout is a detailed stage to show off your trains. Every area should have something interesting, and a story. I would love to see yours. Don
I call this "last man standing". It's in my ghost town. I don't think he knows where he is....

Backyards and areas behind buildings are important to me, too, even if they are not available to visitors at first glance...
For me, I like guests in the trainroom to have to crouch-down and lean-in here-n-there to be able to see everything...and I do not give tours. Everything has to be discovered by the visitors, themselves, to the railroad neighborhoods...

Matt, that guy in front of The House of Redemption started out at McCuaig's Maui Lounge. Don

Arnold, the Troy Savings Bank and Cohoes Commons. Have you spent much time in that part of New York?
Roger Wasson, Every vignette you have shown us here is fabulous, as good looking as any of us would want to have on our own layouts, I am sure. BravO!

This first one is of a Summer Camp area...
...then here's a working man's hang-out area...
...new neighbors on the way...
...a local favorite community site...
...and part of a small manufacturing complex...

Yes, attended Albany Law School, and my wife was born in Cohoes and grew up in the Lansingburg section of Troy, NY.

Arnold, my parents bought a summer place in Athens, west side of the Rip Van Winkle bridge, back when I was in high school. They moved up there from the Bronx when they retired and are there still.
Some detail from around the AT&SF. Click on an image to see them full size
The waterfall was made using a photo I took of Looking Glass Falls across the mountain from here. Its a 65' tall full flowing falls within easy view of the road. I blended white paint to have it flow from the headwaters of the stream to good effect.
If you look closely you may see a sunbather on the rock to the right of the person in the boat.
Hi Rattler, You have a lot going-on there for the imagination in your vignettes. I like them a lot.

These detail shots are great.
Wish I could shrink to 1/48 and walk around these layouts.

Melgar,
All your work is first rate, but I really like those pictures from your 10 x 5 layout especially of the ones showing the stream and and pickup going up that little rise.
Thank you, but I think the other two Saulena's Tavern models are great.
