Hi i would like techs opinions on LED's that blink red ,blue,yellow green, or what ever colors that would look good in a big boy fire box for realism of a glowing flickering fire box, want it to look very realistic and work great hopefully 3mm size unless you have a better ideas.

AlanP.S. which sight would be the best, i have looked at mouser, and digikey,any others let me know and the parts numbers for these devies

I use different colors, red, orange, yellow in various combos.  I play with them in the firebox window until I like what I see.

 

They can draw up to 20ma each, but the current limiting you use will determine the actual current draw.  They work fine on lower currents, experiment to see what you like.  They MUST have filtered DC as the circuit that provides the flickering needs steady power, same as a blinking LED.
