After much deliberation and input from others, I've decided to pursue a different track (hehe) in lighting my Seasons Bay & New England Village buildings on my Prewar/tinplate Upstairs O Layout. These two particular lines of buildings are not the gloss finish ceramic, but rather a matte, rough texture finish ceramic. I did not want to stick with the chunky white xmas bulbs and big cords that come with these buildings, or go the LED route.
I had ordered 6 clear 18v large globe bulbs and 6 amber 18v large globe bulbs, and 6 sockets with attached 6 inch wire leads to try these. These arrived from Town & Country Hobbies yesterday. Hubby Tom and I gave them tryout last night. Hooked one each separately to a Lionel CW-80 transformer and tucked it inside the Seasons Bay Springlake Station. The amber bulb looks orange inside the ceramic. Uh... very Halloween-ie! The clear bulb looks much better. I really going with this more old school route. These will be easy-peasy for us to drill a hole in the layout table surface and wire up under the layout where needed, similar to what we did for the lamps and buildings on both of my Standard Gauge layouts.
