I run a Christmas Season (Nov.15 - Jan. 5 or so) Lionel Fastrack Lion Chief layout with 3 trains on my basement floor each year.  The layout is basically U shaped covering about 80 feet of total length. This year I am adding a couple switches for some additional track for the 3rd Lion Chief Train. Will Fastrack  Remote switches work on Lion Chief powered track? And can these switches be run through the trailing direction without harm to switch or engines?

The Fastrack remote switches will work with Lion Chief track power.   I don't think I run trains through the trailing direction, but I don't think this would be a problem.   With 3 rail track the center(hot) rail never changes position like two rail does(which creates a short if special wiring is not implemented).  I believe all Fastrack switches(remote and manual) have a no derail feature which works regardless of direction provided the loco's leading wheels have enough weight to push the points.
