Looking for an answer on a recent purchase of a USED Lionel 0-6-0, B6 Switcher made in 1989-1990 numbered box 6-18000 and numbered steam engine 8977. My question is what type of sound besides whistle and bell are programmed into the Railsounds chips. Mine gives a chuff and a hiss when switching to forward or reverse BUT does not give the chugging sounds when the engine is moving only a low volume hiss. I’m wondering if I need it worked on to produce more of the original sounds. Reason I’m asking is I bought this used at a train show and the price was right and the engine needed some heavy cleaning and oiling. It also had 2 brass wood screws (sic) holding the drive mechanism to the boiler which I have already filled the holes with epoxy putty and tapped for the original screws. So I’m curious what type of moving sound this engine has. I have not had a chance to get up to Brasseur Trains in Saginaw, Mi. to have it checked out for the sound boards. Here is the info I have on it from the original brochure.
Is the sound of steam only the hissing??? NO chugging?? Hopefully someone has one of these engines at home and can give me an answer.
