Lionel #042 manual switch question

Hi to all,

I have several Lionel O gauge 042 manual switches that I’m going to be using on my upcoming layout. I believe I read somewhere that by using insulated pins these switches can be set up so that when the switch is set to green (straight on the switch), the curve section is dead. By flipping the lever to the red (curve section of the turnout) the straight section is dead. Has anyone heard of this and if so could they guide me on how to accomplish this?

Nope, it doesn't work that way. The 1022 and 142 switches are the only ones that have this feature.
