The most common 042 switches for 0 gauge track are the ones from K-Line. They came in two varieties, early and late, and with manual or remote operation. The early ones have a large, boxy housing for the switch motor. The later ones are more streamlined looking. The actuator housing looks like a Z-stuff motor but it's actually molded into the base. These switches are frequently available on eBay or on the OGR Buy/Sell board at prices around $30-50 apiece. Lionel also made these switches under their own name when they were making K-Line products. They were priced high and I haven't seen many. Those are the switches in Moonman's link to T and K.

Ross makes some nice tubular switches, but I don't know if they come in 042.

Here's a photo with a K-Line 042 remote switch (new style) in the foreground.
