I  may have to replace the e-unit on my 1101-scout steam engine,i have never done this before and my e-unit has cloth covered wires,so i would not know which wires go where ,is there any easy to follow instructions with pictures that i can use to replace my e-unit?    Thanks for any help you can give me.

Here is a sketch and wiring diagram for e-units. What are the symptoms of your engine? Have you cleaned the e-unit and looked for bent/broken contacts and/or a dirty drum? Also check for frayed wiring and broken connections. Does the e-unit cycle properly without hanging up? The motor, wheels, and pickups need to be properly cleaned and lubed before making any diagnosis. Finally, disconnecting the e-unit from the motor and powering the motor directly will isolate both pieces to confirm which one is bad.
