What's the best lubricant for Lionel Steam Engines, my Lionel bumper trolley was hardly moving back & forth, thought the problem was with my wiring and/or transformer, spayed a little WD40, seemed to do the trick, running better.
Is there something on the market that is better than WD40 ??

WD40 is not a permanent lubricant. Any light machine, compressor oil, small electric motor lubricating oil, etc will do the trick. Can usually be found in hardware stores in small bottles with pointed applicators.
Excelle Lubricants are used by many. They offer a package of four that is excellent.

My Lionel, use Singer all purpose machine oil with a blunt pin point needle, works very well for lubrication,
I use 5W20 motor oil for general lubrication. Works great, doesn't turn into gum like WD40. For grease, I'm using Lucas Red-N-Tacky.
