This is my first request on the forum, happy to be here. I have a Lionel 6-18870 Pennsylvania GP-9 with TMCC and a Pulmor motor. The nylon drive gear is partially stripped, most likely from years of operation. The Lionel website lists part cs-6308332078-p Gear shaft assembly as an option to replace the worn nylon gear, but is out of stock. Can I use the postwar part 2328-78 Gear Assembly with Bushings instead?  The parts look the same and I assume the teeth will line up, but want to make sure before I take it apart.

Hopefully someone else will chime in, but I'm almost certain that the postwar part is interchangeable.

If it turns out that it's not, you can still get the loco running again but you'll have to continue by replacing other parts- the drive block, the motor armature, maybe the whole motor with their postwar / MPC equivalents.  Still worth it, IMO.
