How about putting that date in the title so we all don't click this needlessly for a week.
Well guys, now that you got our attention, is there anything in there that may offer any excitement in the new never done before department hhhmmmm.
CHARLIE, would you pleas stop putting that carrot out in front of me. You know I won't taste it until the 20th.
Wow! Didn't expect them so early! Should be interesting!

Lionel doesn't look to kindly on shops that leak information. A big shop in Georgia last year posted the catalog listing early and was pulled down a few hours later. Charlie has done a good job at teasing without leaking. Or is that leaking a tease?

It's called False Advertising and he should change the title.
He didn't say they are live. He said they go live...which once you open the thread he tells you when. Just like a greeting card. Much ado about nuttin'.
Who cares just play with your trains you have till then. Even after you see the catalogs on the 20th it is 6 months to a year before you see any of the trains that are in them.
I will wait until Saturday Jan. 23. By then I will have a lot of opinions to consider on the new items. At 5:15 am I will get a cup of coffee set down with the laptop and enjoy the new offerings while considering the opinions I have read.
Thanks for the effort Charlie.
It's going to be a long week.
Charlie, any hints? Like, any PRR or Milwaukee Road Legacy steam that is new?
MartyE posted:...He didn't say they are live. He said they go live...
Marty,
I think Charlie knew exactly what he was doing.
From a purely journalistic perspective -- at least the way I was trained -- professional journalists often use "present tense" in a news headline to indicate something that has already happened. For example, "Philadelphia Eagles Fire Chip Kelly"... or "Royals Defeat Mets for World Series Title".
Upon reading either of those headlines, 99% of the population would conclude that those events have already happened. Nobody I know would interpret them as events that "will happen" at some point in the future. So in that sense, I think Charlie was just playing games with folks, and he wrote the topic title so folks would click on the thread -- thinking the catalog was already posted NOW. And it worked... considering there are 723 views of this topic as of my posting these comments here.
It's all part of the various machinations dealers feel are "fair game" to build visibility of their name, since they're all vying for pre-orders in the BTO era of toy/model trains. Charlie earns lots of kudos for his posts that pass along product shipping status. No doubt there. But this thread wins him a roll-your-eyes emoticon for the misleading headline. The more appropriate headline would have been "Lionel 2016 Catalog GOING Live on 1/20 at www.nassauhobby.com", or "Lionel 2016 Catalog To Go Live on 1/20...". But neither of those headlines -- although more accurate -- would have garnered nearly as many (false) clicks to the thread!!!

wow that early ,,,hope the catalogues don't see their shadow,,,,might have to wait 6 more weeks to come out,,,
Did the factories in China lose or damage the steel molds for the Aluminum body ACF Center Flow 3-bay and 4-bay Covered Hoppers? Lionel has not had them in the catalog for several years.

I am sorry I can't get into specifics about what is in it. Many of you will be quite happy. New tooling and some old upgraded favorites are back too. Lionel is teaming up with Disney once again and new accessories to please many price points. After looking thru all the catalogs I am very pleased with the BTO offerings. Check it out at our site Monday. Thanks!

Charlie, Monday is 1/18. Wednesday is 1/20. Your earlier post indicated 1/20. Not that it's that big of a deal either way, but which is it?

Is it the 18 or 20. Big steam hint ?
Sorry, I'm so use to Monday's, it is Wednesday the 20th at 9 am EST.
big Steam hint? 3 big steamers!
now don't ask me for more hints but some are colorful. :-)

now that Lionel is Back with Disney....maybe just maybe we could finally see a Spiderman F40ph.

Without incurring the wrath of Lionel, any new diesels? Not asking what, if any, just if there is new tooling for a diesel or new model altogether.
I could see an SD45 built from the SD40 platform...

Hhhmmmm.... colorful steamers bring to mind Southern Pacific Daylight (first and foremost), Great Northern, and Chessie Steam Special. Thankfully, I'm not in the market for any big steam right now. So I'll just watch from the sidelines.

C&O Yellow Belly?
I'd put $2 on the yellow belly

Another good choice too. But I'll put my $2 bet on the SP Daylight, which of course opens the door for a set of Daylight passenger cars in Lionel's new 21" ABS offerings. The odds of that happening are probably MUCH better than my chances of winning the Powerball lottery... which I didn't.
Rat, you are going to be a "little" happy!
...not the Peanuts 51st Anniversary Christmas Special boxcar?

Bring on the big steam All 3 main lines are 0-72 or bigger! If it's a daylight I am gonna pass with buying one 2 years ago ..I highly doubt it unless they do a gs4..A chessie berk would be awesome .. Or a t1 that be a buy for me ..
jojofry posted:... If it's a daylight I am gonna pass with buying one 2 years ago ...
But did it have whistle-steam??? The cab-forward did, but the GS-2 didn't.

Hahaha it's not with a 500 hit I get 9 for mine and 1400 for a new one =pass

But that's EXACTLY what Lionel wants us all to do. They inflate the new selling prices so everybody NEEDS to sell a current item on the roster AND shell out a few C-notes to boot. It's part of their "new math".

It's going to be in HO?

War Bonnet articulated, anyone?

Well they can do what they want ..
I like your guesses!
