Takeaways from the new catolog.   J’s are cool and I kinda want one but way over done.   It’s like we get a J every other year.   Really like the Hudson’s.   Can’t decide which i’ll Go for.    Several 2-10-4’s that are nice. The ore train, and the BNSF tank train are really nice.   Looks like LionChief 2.0 is the wave of the future.   Especially since it’s tmcc compatiable.   Either way legacy’s days are numbered.   We’ll have the same features using our phones and tablets before too long.   Some nice offerings for the traditional crowd that always seem to complain they are left out.   That Sherman hill set is great.   Nice stuff.  Some highs,  some lows.   I like some of the offerings but it was underwhelming.  Unless they lost some of their scale steam tooling.   There are several I’d like to see before a J again.

I saw a bit about the Lionchief 2.0.   Would like to hear more about it.  Was going to get the book tonight but dinner plans put a halt to that.  I know I saw some Southern stuff in the flash by on YouTube.  Sounds like a win win win winner of a book!!!

Yeah I’m ready to hear more about it.   It’ll be interesting.

Spent an hour runningvtrains, took the dogs out pheasant hunting, shot the M1A, then came back, fed the dogs then ran trains for 2 more hours. Could care less about that catalog, got more trains than I can run and getting more makes me appreciate the ones I have less.

I fed my goats.   Didn't shoot my AR-15 or my Mini-14.  Would have liked to!  Did it with a smile after seeing what I've seen in the new catalog.  My only hope is that Lionel gets their house in order and delivers some quality products this year.   Which I think is the same thing everybody else is hoping!    Getting things ready for an expansion of my railroad!    Full steam ahead!

I fired some shoulder mounted ballistic warheads into the air, I fed my pirranas a fetid animal corpse.

But that's all rather boring actually. I'm in here because I'm interested in what the thread topic says is in here.  Why else come in here?

Any chance there's new Polar Express stuff? Saw the blurry 15th anniversary label...holding out hope for scale abandoned toy car.

I rarely if ever get on the complaint bandwagon but one of the perks of being a member of the LRRC was receiving a copy of the latest catalog BEFORE it was available in stores or online. I have not paid attention to this much but this takes the cake. Apparently it is available in many places except my house. Geez!!!

Just my $.02

From what I see so far, the lineup for this catalog is looking very impressive.

I'm most excited for the J3A Hudsons, of course. It took 17 years, but we're finally getting them back. Slightly disappointed not to see an elephant ear version, but the selection is nonetheless intriguing. Though, I'm curious if they'll have the classification lights as the catalog shows or sans them like the last production version (#5433 for the 50th Anniversary Set) did. I prefer these without them, personally.

The trains so far look great but I will not buy anything till QC vastly improves. If anybody orders any of the BTO items you better see and check them first or have your dealer do it.

Im not raining on anybody's parade but what has been happening this past year and more does not give me confidence to order or buy anything from this catalog no matter how much I may like it.

For now I'll stick with MTH and older proven locomotives that have a track record.

Time for Lionel to step up and improve QC or expect sales to decline.

Good post Dave - hope 99% of the folks contemplating Lionel purchases will follow your lead - I want to see Lionel make a good QC comeback, but seems they will not under take the mission "til they hit near bottom.

I took my rhinoceros for a walk.  After that I fed the hippos, and gave the crocodile his bath. Neighbors dogs are missing again..... ??? Once I finished with the household pets I breezed through the new catalog and have decided to order everything.... in fact... 2 of everything!!!!!

You cant feed the hippos and bath the crocodile at the same time, they are mortal enemies

Could not agree more, this is why I purchase all new items from my local "brick and mortar" shop, friendly faces and top notch support if necessary. I am most fortunate to live only 15 minutes from the store. And yes, that  Santa Fe "gold bonnet" is calling my name, hopefully rattle free.

Wish Lionel would return to using stronger packaging.  Rolling stock boxes crush now days just from normal handling.  Also, more rugged application of detail on scale pieces.  Less glued on plastic parts.  The recent scale F Units could barely be removed from the boxes without breaking a piece off...if it wasn't already broken in the box.  I welcome more PW items remade as LionChief.  So far these have been rugged and colorful.

LC 2.0?  How much?  I’ve been waiting for these to be made in better quality than “starter set” and i’m Hoping these fit the bill....  any help would be MUCH appreciated.  Thank you!
